Clean It & Green It – An Earth Day Celebration

Earth Day in JacksonThe City of Jackson’s annual Clean Our Green litter clean-up Earth Day event is adding a new “Green It” exposition of environmentally friendly activities and product demonstrations.  In addition, there is an exciting new incentive for those participating in the annual litter clean-up portion of the event – a free pass to Disneyland.  The renamed event will now be known as “Clean It & Green It” will take place on Saturday, April 24, from 9am – 2pm at Detert Park in Jackson.

The “Clean It” part of the event is the annual litter clean-up event the City has sponsored for the past seven years.  Volunteers come to Detert Park for trash bags, gloves, safety vests and ideas for where to pick up litter.  This will take place from 9am – 12 noon and volunteers returning with their haul will be rewarded with a lunch (courtesy Bank of Amador), a souvenir item and an opportunity to participate in the “Give a Day – Get a Disney Day” program that rewards volunteers with a pass to Disneyland, thanks to a partnership with the Amador Community Foundation.

The “Green It” expo will take place from 10am – 2pm.  Participants will include “green energy” oriented businesses and local community groups, providing information about alternative energy products and services, recycling, composting, gardening and other earth-friendly demonstrations and information geared for kids and adults.  If you have a business that fits the theme and would like to participate, please contact Mike Daly, City Manager, at 223-1646 for more information.
