The Amador County Chamber of Commerce is hosting its 14th Annual Business Person of the Year awards dinner on Wednesday, November 4th to honor Bart & Maura Gillman, owners of Mel & Faye's Diner in Jackson. Jackson Rancheria announces new Chairperson

The Jackson Rancheria Band of Miwuk Indians announced this morning, the results of a special election to fill the seat vacated by the passing of longtime Chairperson Margaret Dalton.

As set forth in the Tribe’s election ordinance, a committee of Tribal members conducted the election at a 6:00 p.m. gathering of the Tribe’s General Council Thursday. Read Full Article

Mule Creek to host 21st annual art show and sale

Amazing works of art, pottery pieces, and woodcrafts made by inmates at Mule Creek State Prison will be displayed at the 21st annual Inside/Out art show and sale. This year’s show is slated for only one day, Saturday, Nov. 7th at the prison on Highway 104 outside Ione. The show, which benefits Operation Care, is open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.  Read Full Article

Assemblywoman Huber and State experts host scam-sopping forum
With a recession-fueled rise in the bilking of consumers, Assemblywoman Alyson Huber Wednesday hosted a panel of experts from state regulatory agencies who gave a scam-stopping seminar in Jackson. Around 50 people attended.
