Dancers to perform for Interfaith Food Bank
fundraiser
Festival of Carols, a popular two-day
choral event hosted by the Interfaith Community of Choirs and
directed by John Leggett, is continuing the tradition of
presenting fine choral music to the Mother Lode.
This 10th annual concert series is a benefit for the Interfaith
Food Bank.
This year's concerts are scheduled for Friday, Nov. 20 at 7 p.m.
and Saturday, Nov. 21 at 3 p.m.-the weekend before Thanksgiving-at
the Church of the Nazarene on Ridge Road in Sutter Creek. A silent auction will be held at 2 p.m. before
Saturday's 3 p.m. concert. Child care will be provided.
Refreshments will be served. Admission is free, with all concert
donations going directly to the Interfaith Food Bank. All
donations to the goodwill offering are tax-deductible.
Donations will help those who are hungry or in need in the county.
The Festival of Carols has been one of the largest fund-raisers
for the Interfaith Food Bank since its conception. This success is
attributed to generous business support and strong community
attendance to this concert series. The 52 voice Interfaith
Community Choir, accompanied by the Amador Community Band, Ernest
L. Kapphahn and Irv Gidding conducting, will feature John Rutter's
Requiem for chorus and small ensemble.
Local teen soprano Kelsey Long will sing the solo. Featured
members of Sue Brumet's Dance Factory will also be presenting
choreographed dances to a few chosen choral pieces. Also included
on the program is David Holsinger's "On a Hymn song of Philip
Bliss," written for concert band. Audience sing-a-longs will be
included as well.
Continuing in the tradition will be the auction of the conductor's
baton. The auction begins at 2 p.m. Saturday and the lucky bidder
will take the podium to direct the Interfaith Community of Choirs.
Community members who are unable to attend either of these two
concerts may send a holiday donation payable to the Interfaith
Food Bank, 12181 Airport Road, Jackson, CA 95642.
Donations my also be made at www.interfaithfoodbank.org. Festival
organizers wish to thank the community for supporting those who
are hungry or in need.
